Well World Tai Chi and Qigong Day has once again come and gone. This past Saturday at 10:00am worldwide, tai chi players gathered and participated, creating a wave of tai chi and qigong around the world.
This year I’ve been rather busy with life in general, as has my teacher. The school I attend and teach in, Mei Zhong Yang Style Taijiquan Assn. USA, has a regular Saturday morning class, and since we were busy this year we decided to let this be our participation in the event.
A number of people from my school are preparing for a trip to China to study with Master Cui Zhongsan and his international students this June. I won’t be making this trip and am looking forward to traveling there later this year. For now I’ll leave you with a link to the World Tai Chi and Qigong website: http://worldtaichiday.org/community/wtcqd/gallery.php
I hope your World Tai Chi and Qigong Day was wonderful.
John

The photo is of me playing tai chi in Deitan Park, Beijing – a place I like to think about when practicing sometimes.

Greets John. We made it through our first WTCQD event. The news had said all week the we would have thunder storms Friday night and Saturday morning. The people at the parks department was pressuring me to cancel the event. I had spent over 6 months working on the project and was not going to let a little lighten stop it. I woke up Saturday morning and we had no rain. The sky was clear blue and sunny. It was perfect weather.
We had 11 groups present and 40 people for the group demonstration. The indivial demonstrations lasted almost 45 minutes. People were playing tai chi all around the park.

David,
I’m glad your first WTC Day went so well. We were all so busy here this year it just didn’t come together for us. I wish I could have made your event. It’s sounds like you guys had a good time.
Thanks for the update.

By visiting your school’s site I found that your teacher is Master Cui, and his Chinese site is one of the few to recognize Master Zheng Manqing as a real indoor student of Master Yang Chengfu. That makes him very loveable for us here in Taiwan, though I’m only loosely connected to the ZMQ school here, also dabbling in a lot of other TJ styles, even other IMA or CMA in general.

Bai Yiming,
It’s good to hear from you. Taiji families don’t seem to want to recognize those who are not “blood relatives”, despite being very important “keepers of the art”. I think the important thing is that we do what we can to further the art and avoid the rest.
Thank you for your comments.
